Electricity: kWh × 12 months × 0.417 kg CO₂/kWh. Natural Gas: therms × 12 × 5.3 kg CO₂/therm. Heating Oil: gallons × 10.16 kg CO₂/gallon. Waste: bags × 52 weeks × 0.032 tons CO₂/bag (accounting for methane from landfill decomposition).
The total is converted to metric tons and divided by household members for the per-person figure.
