The How Old Am I Calculator is the most searched age-related question on the internet. Millions of people every day type 'how old am I' into search engines, looking for a quick, accurate answer. This calculator not only tells you your age in years but also provides your total months, total days, and the number of days until your next birthday — all in one place.
While calculating your age in years seems trivial, it is surprisingly easy to get wrong. The key question is always whether your birthday has occurred yet in the current year. If today is before your birthday this year, you are still the age you turned on your last birthday. If today is on or after your birthday, you are the age you turned this year. This distinction is what makes age calculation more than simple subtraction.
This calculator handles all of this logic automatically. It checks whether your birthday has passed this year, computes your complete age in years, and also gives you three bonus pieces of information: your total age in months, your total age in days, and the countdown to your next birthday. The countdown to your next birthday is especially popular — whether you want to plan a celebration, remind yourself of an upcoming milestone, or simply track how much time remains in your current year of life.
Age is not just a number. It represents experience, growth, and the passage of time. Knowing your exact age — to the day — helps you appreciate how far you have come and motivates reflection on where you are headed. Use this calculator whenever you need a quick, complete answer to the timeless question: how old am I?
The calculator computes age in years by finding the year difference and checking whether this year's birthday has occurred. Total months uses year difference times 12 plus month difference, adjusted for whether the current day has passed the birth day. Total days uses millisecond arithmetic. Days to next birthday finds the next occurrence of the birth month and day, then counts calendar days from today to that date.
The years result is your conventional age. The months and days results give alternative expressions of the same duration. The next birthday countdown tells you how many days remain until you turn one year older. If the countdown shows 0, today is your birthday.

Exactly 26 years old today — next birthday is in exactly 365 days (2027 is not a leap year).
The most common reason is forgetting whether your birthday has occurred this year. If your birthday is later in the year than today's date, you are still the age you turned last year, not the difference between this year and your birth year.
If today matches your birth month and day, the years result reflects your new age (year difference without subtraction), and the next birthday countdown will show 365 or 366 days — one full year.
The calculator finds the next occurrence of your birth month and day (in the current year if your birthday hasn't happened yet, otherwise next year), converts both dates to milliseconds, subtracts, and divides by milliseconds per day, rounding up to the nearest day.
The Western (Gregorian calendar) calculation used here is standard in most countries for legal and official purposes. Some East Asian cultures use different systems — see the Korean Age Calculator and Lunar Age Calculator for those alternatives.
By convention, yes — your age increments on the calendar date of your birthday, regardless of the time of day. The legal and social norm is that you are 'X years old' for the entire calendar day of your birthday.
Yes. Simply enter the other person's birth date. The calculator is not limited to your own age.
The calculator supports birth years from 1900 onward. For very young children (under 1 year), the years result will be 0, but the months and days results will accurately reflect the child's age.
The countdown is accurate to the day based on calendar dates. It does not factor in time of day, so if today is your birthday, the countdown resets to approximately 365 or 366 days immediately.
Entering February 29 as a birth day in a non-leap year will automatically be adjusted by the Date object to March 1. For leap day birthdays, the conventional legal practice is to celebrate on February 28 or March 1 in non-leap years.
Differences arise from how calculators handle the current day (included or excluded), time zones, the exact birth time, and rounding conventions. This calculator counts complete elapsed years/months/days from midnight of the birth date, which is the most common standard.
