Average Dog Lifespan by Size
Body size is the single strongest predictor of canine lifespan:
- Toy/Small breeds (<10 kg): 12–16 years (Chihuahua, Dachshund, Shih Tzu, Pomeranian)
- Medium breeds (10–25 kg): 10–14 years (Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Bulldog, Border Collie)
